The International Forum on Migration and Peace is organized by the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) in coordination with the SIMN members in the countries where the Forum is hold, and with the support of other entities.
On September 1-3, 2010, within the framework of the celebracion of the Bicentennial of Independence of Latin American countries, the Second International Forum on Migration and Peace will be held in Bogota, Colombia. Its objective is to continue the process of international networking for the promotion of a fully human and peaceful co-existence as a universal right for all with the representatives of governments and civil society and to maintain a high-level dialogue on the multi-faceted relationships between international migration and peaceful coexistence in inclusive democracies.
This Second Forum considers how violence and lack of independence might lead to conflict, and a weak democracy, with the subsequent difficulty of achieving peaceful coexistence. With the overall goal of seeking workable solutions for the promotion of new civil relationships that allow for coexistence and democracy, the focus of this Forum is “Migration, Peaceful Coexistence and Independence: Toward New Perspectives on Citizenship and Democracy.
